This workshop will compare the components of register discussing the five different levels. A focus on comparing differences between ASL and English registers will allow the participants to identify those aspects of register in their native language as well as the language with which they work as interpreters.

Participants will compare and differentiate register features between ASL and English and be able to identify and apply the correct use of register in various settings: formal, consultative, informal and intimate.

Participants will focus on the use of appropriate word choices for the appropriate level of register and be able to apply that work utilizing video clips of content-similar information across registers in both ASL and English.
